Anthony Yaar is a Tamil film to be released in 2008. The film stars Shaam and Mallika Kapoor in the leading roles. The film is directed by C. T. Actor Silambarasan has sung a song "Mallalli Kottai Kannu - Mattikatta Ponnu" in this film Anthony Yaar along with Anooradha Sriram. The lyrics of this song is penned by Yughabharathi. This song was shot at a huge set erected in AVM Studios. The cost of the set itself came to Rs.25 lakhs.The actors did extremely well in this song sequence.
Some of the other song sequences were shot at Kulu Manali, and Kodaikanal. The film was shot at various locations like Nagerkoil, Uvari, Muttam, and KodaIkanal. Prem Shankar, Pragathi and Rajesh are also in the cast along with lead pair. Suresh Urs does the editing of Anthoni Yaar and Thalapathy Dinesh is the stunt director.
The film Anthony Yaar's theme is centered around the sea and the lives associated with that. Some of the film's set were shot at the Nagercoil coasts where the crew created a fishermen’s hamlet where the hero Sham lives. The story line gos on like this: Shaam is an orphan, who was found near a catamaran near a church, when he was an infant. The priests brought him up and he takes on the anti-social elements. The lead lady Mallika Kapoor visits this hamlet as part of her research work. She tries to capture some snaps on her camera when she accidently treads on a poisonous weed. Shaam comes to her rescue. There are many twists and turns in the movie where Mallika continues with her research work. The climax is a thriller.
Shaam usually plays the role of chocolate hero, seems to have changed this trend in this movie in which her plays the role of a fisherman. Shaam himselves comments that this film is quite tough for him for he has never performed these sort of roles in his prior films. He has done a lot of home work for his role as a fisherman in Anthony Yaar, by watching carefully the body language and movements of the fisherman folks along the Chennai coasts. With this he could gain some experience for the role in the movie. Shaam's fisherman's role will be great boost to his career. Shaam admits that he found the fisherman's role interesting. |
